Early KiwiSaver Withdrawal

The IRD has proposed changes that will allow someone to withdraw their KiwiSaver before age 65 if they have a life-shortening congenital condition. This will allow them to spend a reasonable amount of time in retirement. There will be a list of health conditions that will allow someone to qualify for early withdrawal. If someone's condition is not covered by the list, they will need to provide medical evidence that they are not expected to live beyond age 65. The Bill was introduced into Parliament on 27 July 2019 and submissions closed on 4 September 2019.
